The kitsch Christmas tree, a 1970s style, white faux tree with awful baubles - was a 2014 project of my late wife, the erstwhile Lady Blagg. (See the story here)
If you'd asked me in 2015, if I thought I'd still be decorating it ten years later, I'd have laughed at you. The only place I wanted it was the local dump. However, in one of those curve balls that life throws at you sometimes, I found myself at Christmas 2018, alone with a kitsch tree, and a mad desire not only to put the tree up every Christmas, but to continue the project with a bauble a year.
Furthermore, as if one kitsch curveball wasn't enough, after moving house in 2022, I now have an extra room with a bay window to put the tree in. You can see it pictured at the bottom of this blog.
As Calendar regulars will know, I'm a God-fearing kind of bloke and being as there is already a bauble of Christ the Redeemer on the tree (Jesus of Cool), it seemed only right to add the Blessed Madonna.
